I set out with Abdullah bin Masud from Mina to Arafat, and he was reciting the talbiyah. Abdullah was a dark-complexioned man with two braids, bearing the appearance of the desert dwellers. A rabble from among the common people gathered around him and said, "Arabi, this is not a day for the talbiyah. It is only a day for takbir."At that point, he turned to me and said, "Have people become ignorant, or have they forgotten? By the One who sent Muhammad ﷺ with the truth, I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he did not stop reciting the talbiyah until he threw the pebbles at Jamrat al-Aqaba, except that he would mix it with takbir or tahlil."
Its isnad is sahih. Harith bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Zubab is trustworthy, Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators and said, "He was among the pious." Ibn Sakhbarah is Abu Muamar Abdullah bin Sakhbarah. Part of its meaning has already passed in abbreviated form with a daif isnad at 3739, and see also 3199 and 3549.
