Abdullah bin Masud reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Our Lord marvels at two men.A man who rises from his bedding and his blanket, leaving his family and his loved ones, to perform his prayer. So our Lord says, 'My angels, look at my servant who has risen from his bed and his bedding, leaving his loved ones and his family, to pray, out of longing for what is with me and out of fear of what is with me.'And a man who fought in the cause of Allah , and his comrades were routed. He knew the consequences of fleeing and the reward of returning, so he returned until his blood was shed, out of longing for what is with me and out of fear of what is with me. So Allah says to his angels, 'Look at my servant who returned out of longing for what is with me and dread of what is with me, until his blood was shed.'"

عن ابن مسعود

عن النبي ﷺ قال عجب ربنا عز وجل من رجلين رجل ثار عن وطائه ولحافه من بين أهله وحيه إلى صلاته فيقول ربنا أيا ملائكتي انظروا إلى عبدي ثار من فراشه ووطائه ومن بين حيه وأهله إلى صلاته رغبة فيما عندي وشفقة مما عندي ورجل غزا في سبيل الله عز وجل فانهزموا فعلم ما عليه من الفرار وما له في الرجوع فرجع حتى أهريق دمه رغبة فيما عندي وشفقة مما عندي فيقول الله عز وجل لملائكته انظروا إلى عبدي رجع رغبة فيما عندي ورهبة مما عندي حتى أهريق دمه
