The owner of this house, pointing to the house of Abdullah without naming him, narrated to us, saying, "I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'Which deed is most beloved to Allah?'He replied, 'Prayer at its proper time.'I asked, 'Then what?'He said, 'Then kindness to one's parents.'I asked, 'Then what?'He said, 'Then jihad in the path of Allah.'"He said, "He told me these, and had I asked him for more, he would have told me more."
حدثنا عفان بن مسلم حدثنا شعبة أخبرني الوليد بن العيزار بن حريث قال سمعت
حدثنا صاحب هذه الدار وأشار إلى دار عبد الله ولم يسمه قال سألت رسول الله ﷺ أي العمل أحب إلى الله قال الصلاة على وقتها قال قلت ثم أي قال ثم بر الوالدين قال قلت ثم أي قال ثم الجهاد في سبيل الله قال فحدثني بهن ولو استزدته لزادني
Its isnad is sahih. Walid bin Ayzar bin Harith Abdi is trustworthy, Ibn Main, Abu Hatim, and others rated him trustworthy, and Bukhari included his biography in al-Kabir 4/2/148. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, and Nasai, as noted in Targheeb 1:147.
