When Abdullah decided to travel to Medina, he gathered his companions and said, "By Allah, I truly hope that there is among you today some of the best of the Muslim armies in religion, understanding, and knowledge of the Quran. This Quran was revealed in multiple modes of recitation. By Allah, two men used to dispute over it more fiercely than they ever disputed about anything. When one reciter would say, 'This is how the Prophet taught me,' the Prophet ﷺ would say, 'You have done well.' And when the other said his version, the Prophet would say, 'Both of you have done well.' So recite as you have been taught.Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. Lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. Consider this in the way one of you says to his companion, 'You have lied and acted wickedly,' and how he says, when believing him, 'You have spoken truly and rightly.'This Quran does not contradict itself, nor does it become worn out, nor does it grow stale through frequent repetition. So whoever recites it according to one mode should not abandon it out of distaste, and whoever recites it according to any of those modes which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught should not abandon it out of distaste. For whoever denies a single verse of it has denied all of it. The variant readings are like one of you saying to his companion, 'Hurry,' or, 'Come quickly.'By Allah, if I knew of any man with greater knowledge than I have of what Allah revealed to Muhammad ﷺ, I would seek him out so I could add his knowledge to my own. There will come a people who will let the prayer die. So pray the prayer at its proper time, and let any prayer you perform with them count as voluntary. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to review the Quran with Jibreel every Ramadan, and in the year of his death I reviewed it with him twice, and he informed me that I was doing well. I learned seventy surahs directly from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."

Its chain of transmission is daif, due to the unknown identity of its narrator from Ibn Masud. The hadith appears in Majma al-Zawaid 7:153 in abridged form, where it is stated, Imam Ahmad narrated it within a lengthy hadith, and Tabarani also narrated it, and it contains a narrator who is not named, while the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the sahih. See also the following hadith."Yastashinn" comes from "sinn" and "sunnah," both with the letter sin vocalized with fatha, meaning manner and character. Ibn Athir's version in Nihayah 2:239 reads "wa la yashna," which he explains as meaning it does not wear out from frequent use."La yatafah," Ibn Athir said, this comes from "the trifling, insignificant thing." One says, "tafuha, yatfuhu," so it is "tafih."
