Its chain is daif due to a break in transmission. Salim bin Abu Jaad Ashjai is a trustworthy tabii, but he came later and did not meet Ibn Masud. Ibn Abu Hatim said in al-Maraseel 29-30, Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Bara told us, Ali bin Madini said, Salim bin Abu Jaad did not meet Ibn Masud, and did not meet Ayesha.The hadith was narrated by Hakim in al-Mustadrak 3:388 via Waki, and he said, "sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs, if Salim bin Abu Jaad indeed heard from Abdullah bin Masud!" though the two of them (Bukhari and Muslim) did not include it. It is astonishing that Dhahabi agreed with him!!In Majma al-Zawaid 7:243 there is a hadith with a similar meaning from Ibn Masud, as a raised report, "When people disagree, the son of Sumayyah is with the truth," and he said, "Tabarani narrated it, and it contains Dirar bin Sarad, who is daif." He did not mention this particular hadith, so I do not know whether he saw it in al-Musnad or forgot it.There is another hadith with a similar meaning from Ayesha, narrated by Tirmidhi 4:345 and by Hakim. Tirmidhi said, "hasan gharib." The son of Sumayyah is Ammar bin Yasir.
