The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let one of you shield his face from the Fire, even with half a date."
حدثنا عمار بن محمد عن إبراهيم عن أبي الأحوص
قال رسول الله ﷺ ليتق أحدكم وجهه النار ولو بشق تمرة
Its isnad is daif. Ibrahim here is Ibrahim Hajari. The hadith appears in Majma al-Zawaid 3:105, where it says, "Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the sahih." This is a mistake, perhaps he thought Ibrahim was Ibrahim Nakhai. How far that is from the truth, for Ammar bin Muhammad could not have met Ibrahim Nakhai or his generation. Ammar died in the year 182, while Nakhai died in the year 96, and there is a wide gap between them. Suyuti followed the author of Zawaid in this in Jami Saghir 7546, marking this hadith with the symbol for sahih.
