Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related it, 13:4, by way of Yahya Qattan from Amash, which is the coming route 3641. Muslim and Tirmidhi also related it, as in Dhakhair, 4734.Al-athrah, with the hamza, tha, and ra all having fatha, Ibn Athir said, it is a noun from "aathara yuthiru ithaaran," meaning "to give." He meant that others would be favored over you, and someone else would get a greater share of the spoils than you. Al-istithar means keeping something exclusively for oneself.
