The Prophet ﷺ was taken on the Night Journey to Bayt al-Maqdis, then returned the same night and told the people about his journey, describing landmarks of Bayt al-Maqdis and their caravan. Some people said, Hasan reported the wording, "Are we to believe Muhammad in what he claims?" So they apostatized and became disbelievers, and Allah struck off their necks alongside Abu Jahl.Abu Jahl said, "Muhammad tries to frighten us with the tree of Zaqqum. Bring some dates and butter," and they ate them, calling it tazaqqum. He saw Dajjal in his actual form, a waking vision and not a dream, and he also saw Isa, Musa, and Ibrahim, the blessings of Allah be upon them. The Prophet ﷺ was asked about Dajjal, and he said, "Pale and ruddy-white." Hasan reported the wording, he said, "I saw him as a heavyset man, pale and ruddy-white, with one eye protruding like a gleaming star, and the hair of his head like the branches of a tree.I saw Isa as a young man, fair-skinned, with curly hair, sharp-sighted, and well-built.I saw Musa as a dark-brown-skinned man, abundant in hair." Hasan reported "thick of hair," "and powerfully built. And I looked at Ibrahim, and I could not look at any limb of his body without seeing it as if it were my own. He resembled your companion, meaning myself."Then Jibreel said, "Greet Malik," so I greeted him.

Its isnad is sahih. Thabit Abu Zayd is Thabit bin Yazid Ahwal, whose kunya is Abu Zayd. The hadith is found in Tafsir Ibn Kathir 5:127, cited from this very passage, where he said, Nasai narrated it from the hadith of Abu Zayd Thabit bin Yazid, from Hilal, who is Ibn Khabab, with the same chain, and it is a sahih isnad. It is also found in Majma al-Zawaid 1:66–67, up to the words "so they wrapped themselves up," after which he said, "he mentioned the hadith. Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are trustworthy, except that Hilal bin Khabab was said by Yahya Qattan to have changed before his death, while Yahya bin Main said he did not change and was not confused, and was trustworthy and reliable." He then mentioned the rest of the hadith just as it appears here, attributing it only to Abu Yaala. I do not know why he did this.See also 2324, 2820, 2822, 3179.Al-matn, with a doubled fatha on the ta, means lean in the belly. Al-irab, with a kasra on the hamza and a silent ra, means a limb, the singular of araab. "Peace be upon Malik" means the noble angel who is the keeper of Hellfire, and this is how it appears in both original manuscripts and in Tafsir Ibn Kathir and Majma al-Zawaid, "Peace be upon your father." We have retained what appears in the sound copies of the Musnad.
