He spent the night at the Prophet's ﷺ house. The Prophet ﷺ woke during the night, took his toothstick and brushed his teeth, then performed ablution, all the while reciting "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth" [Aal Imran 3:190] and continuing through these verses until he reached the end of the surah. Then he prayed two units of prayer, prolonging the standing, the bowing, and the prostration. Afterward he turned aside until I could hear the sound of his sleeping breath. Then he woke again, brushed his teeth, and performed ablution while reciting the same verses. He did this three times, then prayed three units as the witr prayer.Bilal the muezzin came to him, and he went out to the prayer saying, "Allah, place light in my heart, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light before me, light behind me, light to my right, light to my left, light above me, and light below me. Allah, grant me abundant light."
حدثنا هشام بن عبد الملك حدثنا أبو عوانة عن حصين عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت أنه حدثه محمد بن علي بن عبد الله بن عباس عن أبيه قال
أنه بات عند النبي ﷺ فاستيقظ من الليل فأخذ سواكه فاستاك به ثم توضأ وهو يقول {إن في خلق السموات والأرض} حتى قرأ هذه الآيات وانتهى عند آخر السورة ثم صلى ركعتين فأطال فيهما القيام والركوع والسجود ثم انصرف حتى سمعت نفخ النوم ثم استيقظ فاستاك وتوضأ وهو يقول حتى فعل ذلك ثلاث مرات ثم أوتر بثلاث فأتاه بلال المؤذن فخرج إلى الصلاة وهو يقول اللهم اجعل في قلبي نورا واجعل في سمعي نورا واجعل في بصري نورا واجعل أمامي نورا وخلفي نورا واجعل عن يميني نورا وعن شمالي نورا وفوقي نورا وتحتي نورا اللهم أعظم لي نورا
