Abu Bakhtari reported,

We were trying to sight the crescent moon of the month of Ramadan at Dhat Irq, so we sent word to Ibn Abbas asking him about it. He said that the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has extended it for its sighting, so if it is obscured from you, complete the count."
