Aqra bin Habis asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whether the Hajj was to be performed every year.He replied, "No, it is only one Hajj. Whoever performs it beyond that, it counts as a voluntary act. Had I said yes, it would have become obligatory, and had it become obligatory, you would not have been able to listen and obey."

أن الأقرع بن حابس سأل رسول الله ﷺ الحج كل عام فقال لا بل حجة فمن حج بعد ذلك فهو تطوع ولو قلت نعم لوجبت ولو وجبت لم تسمعوا ولم تطيعوا
