Ibn Abbas said to me, "Get married, for the best among us ﷺ had the most wives."
حدثنا روح حدثنا أبو عوانة عن رقبة بن مصقلة بن رقبة عن طلحة الإيامي
قال لي ابن عباس تزوج فإن خيرنا كان أكثرنا نساء ﷺ
Its isnad is sahih. Raqaba bin Masqala bin Abdullah bin Raqaba bin Khawtaa bin Sabra is trustworthy. Ahmad said, a shaykh among the trustworthy, one relied upon. Ajli said, trustworthy, and he was eloquent, counted among the notable men of the Arabs. We have taken this lineage from Sharh Qamus, 1:275. Masqala is spelled with a saad, though it is also said with a seen, as occurs in Sahih Muslim in another hadith, and as in Kabir by Bukhari, 323/1/2.Talha Iyami is Talha bin Musarrif Yami, named after Yam, a tribe from Hamdan. In Sharh Qamus, 9:115, it says the name derived from them is Yami, and sometimes a hamza with a kasra is added at the beginning, so they say Iyami. The meaning of the hadith has already occurred twice with a hasan isnad, at 2048 and 2179.
