Ibn Abbas said, I went to visit my aunt Maymunah and found that it was her night with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the evening prayer, then went into his house and laid his head on a leather pillow stuffed with palm fiber. I came and laid my head on one side of it.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up and looked and saw that it was still night, so he glorified Allah and declared His greatness until he fell asleep again. Then he woke when half the night, or two thirds of it, had passed. He got up and relieved himself, then came to a waterskin hanging on a stand and rinsed his mouth three times, drew water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, washed each of his forearms three times, wiped his head and his ears, and then washed his feet.Yazid said, I think he said, three times each.Then he went to his prayer place. I got up and did just as he had done, then came and stood on his left, meaning to pray along with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ waited, and when he realized that I intended to pray with him, he reached back with his right hand, took hold of my ear, and turned me around until he had placed me on his right.When the first light of dawn appeared, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paused a little, and when the morning had grown bright for him he rose and prayed Witr, nine units, giving the closing greeting after every two. When he had finished his Witr he paused briefly, and when he judged that morning had truly come he rose and prayed the two units of Fajr before the morning prayer. Then he lay down on his side and slept until I heard him snoring.Then Bilal came and roused him for the prayer, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up and prayed the morning prayer.
حدثنا روح حدثنا عباد بن منصور حدثني عكرمة بن خالد بن المغيرة أن سعيد بن جبير حدثه قال ابن عباس قال أتيت خالتي ميمونة فوجدت ليلتها تلك من رسول الله ﷺ فذكر نحو حديث يزيد إلا أنه قال حتى إذا طلع الفجر الأول أمسك رسول الله ﷺ هنية حتى إذا أضاء له الصبح قام فصلى الوتر تسع ركعات يسلم في كل ركعتين حتى إذا فرغ من وتره أمسك يسيرا حتى إذا أصبح في نفسه قام رسول الله ﷺ فركع ركعتي الفجر لصلاة الصبح ثم وضع جنبه فنام حتى سمعت جخيفه قال ثم جاء بلال فنبهه للصلاة فقام رسول الله ﷺ فصلى الصبح
