I came to my aunt Maymuna bint Harith and stayed the night at her home. It happened to be a night when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was with her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the evening prayer, then entered his house and placed his head on a leather pillow stuffed with palm fiber. I came and laid my head on a corner of it.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up, looked around, and saw that night still covered him, so he glorified and magnified Allah until he fell asleep again. Then he woke up when half the night had passed, or perhaps two-thirds.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up and relieved himself, then came to a waterskin hanging on a wooden frame. He rinsed his mouth three times, sniffed water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, washed each forearm three times, wiped his head and his ears, and then washed his feet.Yazid said, "I think he said three times each."Then he went to his place of prayer. I got up and did as he had done, then came and stood on his left, intending to pray with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ paused, and when he realized that I intended to pray with him, he reached out with his right hand, took hold of my ear, and turned me until he had placed me on his right side.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two units for as long as he saw that night still remained. Then, when he judged that dawn was drawing near, he stood and prayed six units, making the seventh the witr. When the dawn light appeared, he stood and prayed two more units. Then he laid down on his side and slept until I heard him snoring.Then Bilal came to him and called him to prayer, so he went out and prayed without touching any water.I said to Saeed bin Jubayr, "How wonderful is this!"Saeed bin Jubayr replied, "By Allah, I said the same thing to Ibn Abbas, and he said, 'Stop. This is not for you or your companions. It belongs only to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, for he was kept under guard.'"
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا عباد بن منصور عن عكرمة بن خالد المخزومي عن سعيد بن جبير
أتيت خالتي ميمونة بنت الحارث فبت عندها فوجدت ليلتها تلك من رسول الله ﷺ فصلى رسول الله ﷺ العشاء ثم دخل بيته فوضع رأسه على وسادة من أدم حشوها ليف فجئت فوضعت رأسي على ناحية منها فاستيقظ رسول الله ﷺ فنظر فإذا عليه ليل فسبح وكبر حتى نام ثم استيقظ وقد ذهب شطر الليل أو قال ثلثاه فقام رسول الله ﷺ فقضى حاجته ثم جاء إلى قربة على شجب فيها ماء فمضمض ثلاثا واستنشق ثلاثا وغسل وجهه ثلاثا وذراعيه ثلاثا ثلاثا ومسح برأسه وأذنيه ثم غسل قدميه قال يزيد حسبته قال ثلاثا ثلاثا ثم أتى مصلاه فقمت وصنعت كما صنع ثم جئت فقمت عن يساره وأنا أريد أن أصلي بصلاته فأمهل رسول الله ﷺ حتى إذا عرف أني أريد أن أصلي بصلاته لفت يمينه فأخذ بأذني فأدارني حتى أقامني عن يمينه فصلى رسول الله ﷺ ما رأى أن عليه ليلا ركعتين فلما ظن أن الفجر قد دنا قام فصلى ست ركعات أوتر بالسابعة حتى إذا أضاء الفجر قام فصلى ركعتين ثم وضع جنبه فنام حتى سمعت فخيخه ثم جاءه بلال فآذنه بالصلاة فخرج فصلى وما مس ماء فقلت لسعيد بن جبير ما أحسن هذا فقال سعيد بن جبير أما والله لقد قلت ذاك لابن عباس فقال مه إنها ليست لك ولا لأصحابك إنها لرسول الله ﷺ إنه كان يحفظ
