When the Prophet ﷺ rose for the night vigil prayer, he would say, "To You belongs all praise. You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all who are in them. To You belongs all praise. You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all who are in them. To You belongs all praise. You are the Sovereign of the heavens and the earth and all who are in them. To You belongs all praise. You are the Truth, Your promise is true, the meeting with You is true, Paradise is true, the Fire is true, the Hour is true, Muhammad ﷺ is true, and the prophets are true. O Allah, to You I have submitted, in You I have believed, upon You I have relied, to You I have turned in repentance, by Your help I have disputed, and to Your judgment I have appealed. So forgive me what I have done before and what I will do later, what I have concealed and what I have made public. You are the One who brings forward and You are the One who puts back. There is no god but You," or "There is no god other than You."
حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن سليمان بن أبي مسلم سمعه من طاوس
كان النبي ﷺ إذا قام يتهجد من الليل قال لك الحمد أنت نور السموات والأرض ومن فيهن ولك الحمد أنت قيم السموات والأرض ومن فيهن ولك الحمد أنت ملك السموات والأرض ومن فيهن ولك الحمد أنت الحق ووعدك حق ولقاؤك حق والجنة حق والنار حق والساعة حق ومحمد ﷺ حق والنبيون حق اللهم لك أسلمت وبك آمنت وعليك توكلت وإليك أنبت وبك خاصمت وإليك حاكمت فاغفر لي ما قدمت وما أخرت وما أسررت وما أعلنت أنت المقدم وأنت المؤخر لا إله إلا أنت أو لا إله غيرك
