I was with Ibn Abbas when Zayd bin Thabit said to him, "Do you give the ruling that a menstruating woman may depart before her final visit to the House?"Ibn Abbas replied, "Yes."Zayd said, "Then do not give that ruling."Ibn Abbas said to him, "If you doubt it, then ask so-and-so the Ansari woman whether the Prophet ﷺ commanded her to do so."Zayd bin Thabit later returned to him laughing and said, "I see that you have indeed spoken the truth."
حدثنا محمد بن بكر أخبرنا ابن جريج قال أخبرني الحسن بن مسلم
كنت مع ابن عباس إذ قال له زيد بن ثابت أنت تفتي أن تصدر الحائض قبل أن يكون آخر عهدها بالبيت قال نعم قال فلا تفت بذلك فقال له ابن عباس إما لا فسل فلانة الأنصارية هل أمرها بذلك النبي ﷺ فرجع إليه زيد بن ثابت يضحك ويقول ما أراك إلا قد صدقت
