When the Prophet ﷺ arrived at Dhul-Hulayfah, he entered into ihram for Hajj. He marked his sacrificial animal on the right side of its hump, wiped away the blood, and hung two sandals around its neck.

أن النبي ﷺ لما أتى ذا الحليفة أحرم بالحج وأشعر هديه في شق السنام الأيمن وأماط عنه الدم وقلد نعلين
