They said, "Messenger of Allah, we find within ourselves thoughts that any one of us would rather be reduced to a piece of charcoal than utter."One of them said, "Praise be to Allah who has reduced his power over you to mere whispering."The other said, "Praise be to Allah who has turned his affair back to mere whispering."

أنهم قالوا يا رسول الله إنا نحدث أنفسنا بالشيء لأن يكون أحدنا حممة أحب إليه من أن يتكلم به قال فقال أحدهما الحمد لله الذي لم يقدر منكم إلا على الوسوسة وقال الآخر الحمد لله الذي رد أمره إلى الوسوسة
Its isnad is sahih. Sulayman is Ibn Mihran Amash, for Shubah narrated it from Amash and Mansur, both of them from Dhirr bin Abdullah Marhabi Hamdani. The hadith is a repetition of 2097. Humsah, with the ha vowelled with a damma and the mim with a fatha, meaning a "humsah."
