Abu Ala reported,

Abu Umama put on a new garment, and when it reached his collarbone he said, "Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with what conceals my nakedness and adorns me in my life."Then he said, I heard Umar bin Khattab say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever acquires a new garment and puts it on, then says when it reaches his collarbone, 'Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with what conceals my nakedness and adorns me in my life,' and then takes the garment that has worn out," or he said, "that he has discarded, and gives it away in charity, will be under the protection of Allah the Exalted, in the safekeeping of Allah, and in the shelter of Allah, in life and in death, in life and in death, in life and in death."

عن أبي العلاء الشامي قال

لبس أبو أمامة ثوبا جديدا فلما بلغ ترقوته قال الحمد لله الذي كساني ما أواري به عورتي وأتجمل به في حياتي ثم قال سمعت عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه يقول قال رسول الله ﷺ من استجد ثوبا فلبسه فقال حين يبلغ ترقوته الحمد لله الذي كساني ما أواري به عورتي وأتجمل به في حياتي ثم عمد إلى الثوب الذي أخلق أو قال ألقى فتصدق به كان في ذمة الله تعالى وفي جوار الله وفي كنف الله حيا وميتا حيا وميتا حيا وميتا
