Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

Abu Jahl came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was praying and forbade him from doing so. The Prophet ﷺ threatened him in return, and Abu Jahl said, "Are you threatening me? By Allah, I have the largest following in this valley."So Allah revealed, "Have you seen the one who forbids a servant when he prays? Have you considered if he is upon guidance, or enjoins righteousness? Have you considered if he denies and turns away?" [Alaq 96:9–13].Ibn Abbas said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, had he called upon his followers, the angels of punishment would have seized him."

حدثنا عفان حدثنا وهيب حدثنا داود عن عكرمة

عن ابن عباس قال

جاء أبو جهل إلى النبي ﷺ وهو يصلي فنهاه فتهدده النبي ﷺ فقال أتهددني أما والله إني لأكثر أهل الوادي ناديا فأنزل الله {أرأيت الذي ينهى عبدا إذا صلى أرأيت إن كان على الهدى أو أمر بالتقوى أرأيت إن كذب وتولى} قال ابن عباس والذي نفسي بيده لو دعا ناديه لأخذته الزبانية
