Umar bin Khattab reported,
Umar bin Khattab 
reported from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said, "There is no night in which the sea does not rise three times above the earth, seeking permission from Allah to burst forth upon the people, but Allah 
holds it back."

عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه فقال
حدثنا عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه عن رسول الله ﷺ أنه قال ليس من ليلة إلا والبحر يشرف فيها ثلاث مرات على الأرض يستأذن الله في أن ينفضخ عليهم فيكفه الله عز وجل

Its isnad is daif, due to the anonymity of the sheikh from whom Awwam bin Hawshab narrated. Abu Salih, the freedman of Umar, is also unknown, mentioned in al-Tajil under number 3131, where Hafiz marked him with the symbol "mz" for Abdullah bin Ahmad narrating from someone other than his father, which is an error, for his hadith here is from his father the Imam, from the original body of the Musnad, not from the additions. Dulabi mentioned him in al-Kuna 2:10, saying, Abu Salih, the freedman of Umar bin Khattab, from whom he narrates in the story of trading at sea, and he added nothing further."Yanzikh" is with the dotted kha, meaning it opens up and flows out, as one says, "the bucket became split open" when what was in it of water gushed out. And in kh it appears with the undotted ha, which is an error we have corrected from k and h.
