I saw a man enter the mosque, stand up, and begin to pray. Whenever he raised his head he said takbir, whenever he lowered his head he said takbir, and whenever he rose from the two rakats he said takbir. I found this strange, so I went to Ibn Abbas and told him about it.He said, "May you lose your mother! Was that not the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"
حدثنا أبو سعيد حدثنا عمر يعني ابن فروخ حدثنا حبيب يعني ابن الزبير
رأيت رجلا دخل المسجد فقام فصلى فكان إذا رفع رأسه كبر وإذا وضع رأسه كبر وإذا ما نهض من الركعتين كبر فأنكرت ذلك فأتيت ابن عباس فأخبرته بذلك فقال لا أم لك أوليس تلك صلاة رسول الله ﷺ
Its isnad is sahih. Amr bin Faruq Abdi, the packsaddle seller, is trustworthy. Ibn Main and Abu Hatim confirmed his trustworthiness, as noted in Jarh wa Tadil 3/1/128, and Abu Dawud approved of him, saying, "Well known."Habib bin Zubayr bin Mishkan Isfahani, a freedman of Banu Hilal, is trustworthy. Nasai confirmed his trustworthiness, and Tirmidhi graded a hadith of his sahih. Ahmad said, "I know nothing of him but good," while Ibn Madini said, "Unknown," though others besides him knew him. Bukhari gave his biography in Tarikh al-Kabir 1/2/315.Habib is spelled with a fatha on the unpointed ha, and in one manuscript it appears as "Khubayb" with the pointed letter, which is a copying error.This hadith is a repetition of 2656.
