Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did wipe over the leather socks, so ask those who claim that the Prophet ﷺ wiped over them, was it before the revelation of Surah al-Maidah or after it? By Allah, he never wiped over them after al-Maidah was revealed. I would rather wipe over the back of a camel crossing the wilderness than wipe over them.

عن ابن عباس قال

قد مسح رسول الله ﷺ على الخفين فاسألوا هؤلاء الذين يزعمون أن النبي ﷺ مسح قبل نزول المائدة أو بعد المائدة والله ما مسح بعد المائدة ولأن أمسح على ظهر عابر بالفلاة أحب إلي من أن أمسح عليهما
