I heard Hisham bin Hakeem bin Hizam reciting Surah al-Furqan during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ. I listened to his recitation, and he was reciting it in many ways that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had not taught me. I nearly pounced on him during the prayer, but I waited until he gave the closing salam. When he had given the salam, the rest of the meaning was mentioned.
حدثنا الحكم بن نافع أنبأنا شعيب عن الزهري حدثني عروة عن حديث المسور بن مخرمة وعبد الرحمن بن عبد القاري أنهما سمعا
سمعت هشام بن حكيم بن حزام يقرأ سورة الفرقان في حياة النبي ﷺ فاستمعت لقراءته فإذا هو يقرأ على حروف كثيرة لم يقرئنيها رسول الله ﷺ فكدت أساوره في الصلاة فنظرت حتى سلم فلما سلم فذكر معناه
