The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to them while they were sitting and said, "Shall I tell you who has the best station among people?"We replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "A man holding the reins of his horse in the path of Allah until he dies or is killed."Then he said, "Shall I tell you who comes next?"We replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "A man secluded in a mountain pass who establishes the prayer, gives the zakat, and keeps away from the evils of people."Then he said, "Shall I tell you who has the worst station among people?"We replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "The one who is asked in the name of Allah but does not give."
حدثنا أبو النضر عن ابن أبي ذئب عن سعيد بن خالد عن إسماعيل بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ذؤيب عن عطاء بن يسار
إن رسول الله ﷺ جاء أو خرج عليهم وهم جلوس فقال ألا أحدثكم بخير الناس منزلا قال قلنا بلى يا رسول الله قال رجل ممسك بعنان فرس في سبيل الله حتى يموت أو يقتل ثم قال ألا أخبركم بالذي يليه قلنا بلى يا رسول الله قال امرؤ معتزل في شعب يقيم الصلاة ويؤتي الزكاة ويعتزل شرور الناس ثم قال ألا أخبركم بشر الناس منزلا قال قلنا بلى يا رسول الله قال الذي يسأل بالله ولا يعطي به
