Abu Bakr stood up, praised Allah, and extolled Him. Then he said, "People, you recite this verse, 'You who believe, take care of your own souls' [Maidah 5:105]," continuing to the end of the verse. He said, "But truly, when people see a wrongdoer and do not restrain his hand, Allah is about to engulf them all in His punishment. And indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'When people…'"And on another occasion he said, "We heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ…"
حدثنا حماد بن أسامة قال أخبرنا إسماعيل
قام أبو بكر فحمد الله وأثنى عليه ثم قال يا أيها الناس إنكم تقرءون هذه الآية {يا أيها الذين آمنوا عليكم أنفسكم} حتى أتى على آخر الآية ألا وإن الناس إذا رأوا الظالم لم يأخذوا على يديه أوشك الله أن يعمهم بعقابه ألا وإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن الناس وقال مرة أخرى وإنا سمعنا رسول الله ﷺ
