Both of its chains are sahih, and it is a repetition of what preceded it. This hadith, with these two chains, is among the additions of Abdullah bin Ahmad, as far as I can determine with certainty, even though the first chain in the two original manuscripts is given from Qutayi as follows, "Abdullah told us. My father told me. Abdullah bin Awn told us." The apparent meaning of this wording is that it is Ahmad who says, "Abdullah bin Awn told us," but the second chain indicates otherwise, for in the two original manuscripts it is given from Qutayi as follows, "Abdullah told us, he said, and Nasr bin Ali told me." This indicates that both chains go back to Abdullah bin Ahmad from the two sheikhs, Abdullah bin Awn and Nasr bin Ali, and that the addition "my father told me" in the first chain is an oversight of the copyists, who followed the usual pattern in writing it.We mentioned something similar to this doubt regarding Ahmad's narration from Abdullah bin Awn earlier, at 909, but we are now confident that both this case and that one are among the additions of Abdullah.Kharraz is spelled with the ra before the za. His statement "among the trustworthy" is a validation from Abdullah bin Ahmad of his teacher Abdullah bin Awn. In the two original manuscripts it reads "from the trustworthy," which is a clear error, for Ibn Awn narrates directly from Sharik.
