The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Jibreel recited the Quran to me in one mode, and I asked him to give me more. I kept asking him to increase it, and he kept increasing it for me, until it reached seven modes."Zuhri said, "These modes pertain only to a single matter, and they do not differ regarding what is lawful or unlawful."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال أخبرنا معمر عن الزهري عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال أقرأني جبريل على حرف فراجعته فلم أزل أستزيده ويزيدني فانتهى إلى سبعة أحرف قال الزهري وإنما هذه الأحرف في الأمر الواحد وليس يختلف في حلال ولا حرام
