Rawh from Asim, though people call him Abu Asim, said, I said to Ibn Abbas, "Your people claim that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the saee between Safa and Marwa on a camel and that this is a sunnah."He replied, "They have spoken truthfully and they have spoken falsely."I asked, "What do you mean by 'spoken truthfully and spoken falsely'?"He said, "He did indeed perform the saee between Safa and Marwa on a camel, but that is not a sunnah. The people would not move aside from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ nor would they be pushed back, so he rode a camel so they could hear him, see his place, and so their hands would not reach him."

روح عاصم والناس يقولون أبو عاصم قال قلت لابن عباس يزعم قومك أن رسول الله ﷺ طاف بين الصفا والمروة على بعير وأن ذلك سنة فقال صدقوا وكذبوا قلت وما صدقوا وكذبوا قال قد طاف بين الصفا والمروة على بعير وليس ذلك بسنة كان الناس لا يصدفون عن رسول الله ﷺ ولا يدفعون فطاف على بعير ليستمعوا وليروا مكانه ولا تناله أيديهم
