The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the use of gourds, green earthenware jars, hollowed-out wood, and vessels coated with pitch for making nabidh, and he forbade mixing unripe dates with ripening ones.I said, "Ibn Abbas, what do you say about a man who puts his nabidh in a green jar that looks like a glass flask and drinks it at night?"He replied, "Will you not stop doing what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden you to do?"
Its isnad is sahih. Yazid bin Ata bin Yazid Yashkuri Wasiti, Abu Dawud said that Ahmad considered him reliable, and in another report from Ahmad also, "There is no harm in him," though some criticized him regarding his memory. Bukhari mentioned him in al-Kabir 4/1/351 without noting any criticism of him. The hadith is given at length at 2499, see also 2769.
