She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon in which he said, "People, what drives you to persist in lying as moths persist in throwing themselves into the fire? Every lie is recorded against the son of Adam except in three cases. A man who lies to his wife to please her, a man who lies as a stratagem of war, or a man who lies between two Muslims to bring about reconciliation between them."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي حدثنا داود بن عبد الرحمن عن ابن خثيم عن شهر بن حوشب
أنها سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يخطب يقول أيها الناس ما يحملكم على أن تتابعوا في الكذب كما يتتابع الفراش في النار كل الكذب يكتب على ابن آدم إلا ثلاث خصال رجل كذب على امرأته ليرضيها أو رجل كذب في خديعة حرب أو رجل كذب بين امرأين مسلمين ليصلح بينهما
