Asma bint Yazid reported,

We were with the Prophet ﷺ in his house when he said, "Three years before the emergence of the Dajjal, the sky will withhold a third of its rain and the earth will withhold a third of its vegetation. In the second year, the sky will withhold two thirds of its rain and the earth will withhold two thirds of its vegetation. In the third year, the sky will withhold all of its rain and the earth will withhold all of its vegetation, so that no animal with hoof or cloven foot will remain except that it perishes.Then the Dajjal will say to a man from the desert dwellers, 'What do you think, if I bring back your camels with massive udders and huge humps, will you acknowledge that I am your lord?' The man will say, 'Yes.' So devils will be made to appear before him in the form of his camels, and he will follow him.Then he will say to another man, 'What do you think, if I bring back your father, your son, and those of your family whom you recognize, will you acknowledge that I am your lord?' He will say, 'Yes.' So devils will be made to appear before him in their forms, and he will follow him."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left, and the people of the house began to weep. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, we were still weeping, and he asked, "What is making you cry?"I said, "Messenger of Allah, it is what you mentioned about the Dajjal. By Allah, even now my family's maidservant kneads her dough and can hardly finish before she nearly collapses from hunger. So how will we manage on that day?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "On that day, what will suffice the believers in place of food and drink will be saying 'Allahu Akbar,' 'Subhan Allah,' and 'Alhamdulillah.'"Then he said, "Do not weep. If the Dajjal emerges while I am still among you, I will be the one to argue against him on your behalf. And if he emerges after me, then Allah is my successor over every Muslim."

حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا جرير بن حازم عن قتادة عن شهر بن حوشب

عن أسماء بنت يزيد قالت

كنا مع النبي ﷺ في بيته فقال إذا كان قبل خروج الدجال بثلاث سنين حبست السماء ثلث قطرها وحبست الأرض ثلث نباتها فإذا كانت السنة الثانية حبست السماء ثلثي قطرها وحبست الأرض ثلثي نباتها فإذا كانت السنة الثالثة حبست السماء قطرها كله وحبست الأرض نباتها كله فلا يبقى ذو خف ولا ظلف إلا هلك فيقول الدجال للرجل من أهل البادية أرأيت إن بعثت إبلك ضخاما ضروعها عظاما أسنمتها أتعلم أني ربك فيقول نعم فتمثل له الشياطين على صورة إبله فيتبعه ويقول للرجل أرأيت إن بعثت أباك وابنك ومن تعرف من أهلك أتعلم أني ربك فيقول نعم فيمثل له الشياطين على صورهم فيتبعه ثم خرج رسول الله ﷺ وبكى أهل البيت ثم رجع رسول الله ﷺ ونحن نبكي فقال ما يبكيكم فقلت يا رسول الله ما ذكرت من الدجال فوالله إن أمة أهلي لتعجن عجينها فما تبلغ حتى تكاد تفتت من الجوع فكيف نصنع يومئذ فقال رسول الله ﷺ يكفي المؤمنين عن الطعام والشراب يومئذ التكبير والتسبيح والتحميد ثم قال لا تبكوا فإن يخرج الدجال وأنا فيكم فأنا حجيجه وإن يخرج بعدي فالله خليفتي على كل مسلم
