Alqama reported,

He arrived in Sham and entered the mosque of Damascus, where he prayed two units of prayer and said, "Allah, grant me a righteous companion to sit with."Then a man came and sat beside Abu Darda, who asked him, "Where are you from?"He replied, "From the people of Kufa."Abu Darda said, "How did you hear Ibn Umm Abd recite 'By the night when it covers, and the day when it appears' [Layl 92:1–2]?"Alqama said, "And the male and the female."Abu Darda said, "I heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ just like that, but these people kept on until they made me doubt it."Then he said, "Was there not among you the keeper of the pillow, the keeper of the secret which no one else knew, and the one who was given protection from Satan on the tongue of the Prophet ﷺ? The keeper of the pillow is Ibn Masud, the keeper of the secret is Hudhayfa, and the one given protection from Satan is Ammar."

أنه قدم الشام فدخل مسجد دمشق فصلى فيه ركعتين وقال اللهم ارزقني جليسا صالحا قال فجاء فجلس إلى أبي الدرداء فقال له أبو الدرداء ممن أنت قال من أهل الكوفة قال كيف سمعت ابن أم عبد يقرأ {والليل إذا يغشى والنهار إذا تجلى} قال علقمة والذكر والأنثى فقال أبو الدرداء لقد سمعتها من رسول الله ﷺ فما زال هؤلاء حتى شككوني ثم قال ألم يكن فيكم صاحب الوساد وصاحب السر الذي لا يعلمه أحد غيره والذي أجير من الشيطان على لسان النبي ﷺ صاحب الوساد ابن مسعود وصاحب السر حذيفة والذي أجير من الشيطان عمار
