Umm Habiba bint Abu Sufyan reported,

Umm Salama said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Messenger of Allah, marry my sister, the daughter of Abu Sufyan."She claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Would you really like that?"She said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah. I am not your only wife, and the one I would most like to share in any good with me is my sister."She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "That is not lawful for me."I said, "By Allah, Messenger of Allah, we have been hearing that you intend to marry Durra, the daughter of Abu Salama."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "The daughter of Umm Salama?"She said, "Yes."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Allah, even if she were not my stepdaughter raised in my care, she would still not be lawful for me. She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding. Thuwayba nursed both me and Abu Salama. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters in marriage."

حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا ابن أخي ابن شهاب عن عمه قال أخبرني عروة بن الزبير أن زينب بنت أبي سلمة أخبرته أن

أم حبيبة زوج النبي ﷺ أخبرتها أنها قالت

لرسول الله ﷺ يا رسول الله انكح أختي ابنة أبي سفيان فزعمت أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لها أوتحبين ذلك قالت نعم يا رسول الله لست لك بمخلية وأحب من شركني في خير أختي قالت فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن ذلك لا يحل لي فقلت فوالله يا رسول الله إنا لنتحدث أنك تريد أن تنكح درة بنت أبي سلمة فقال رسول الله ﷺ ابنة أم سلمة قالت نعم قال رسول الله ﷺ وايم الله إنها لو لم تكن ربيبتي في حجري ما حلت لي إنها ابنة أخي من الرضاعة وأرضعتني وأبا سلمة ثويبة فلا تعرضن علي بناتكن ولا أخواتكن
