The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "When your waiting period ends, let me know."So I informed him, and Muawiya bin Abu Sufyan, Abu Jahm, and Usama bin Zayd proposed to me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "As for Muawiya, he is a poor man with no wealth. As for Abu Jahm, he is a man who beats women. But Usama..."She gestured with her hand like this, indicating Usama, meaning she did not want him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Obedience to Allah and obedience to His Messenger is better for you."So I married him, and I came to envy my own good fortune in him.
حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان سمعه من أبي بكر بن أبي الجهم سمعت
قال لي رسول الله ﷺ إذا أحللت فآذنيني فآذنته فخطبها معاوية بن أبي سفيان وأبو الجهم وأسامة بن زيد فقال رسول الله ﷺ أما معاوية فرجل ترب لا مال له وأما أبو الجهم فرجل ضراب للنساء ولكن أسامة قال فقالت بيدها هكذا أسامة تقول لم ترده فقال لها رسول الله ﷺ طاعة الله وطاعة رسوله خير لك فتزوجته فاغتبطته
