The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the afternoon prayer in one of their valleys called al-Mukhammas, then he said, "This prayer, the afternoon prayer, was prescribed upon those before you, but they neglected it. Whoever prays it, his reward is doubled twice over. There is no prayer after it until you see the witness."I asked Ibn Lahiah, "What is the witness?"He replied, "The star. The Bedouins call the star the witness of the night."
حدثنا يحيى بن إسحاق قال أخبرنا ابن لهيعة عن عبد الله بن هبيرة عن أبي تميم
صلى بنا رسول الله ﷺ في واد من أوديتهم يقال له المخمص صلاة العصر فقال إن هذه الصلاة صلاة العصر عرضت على الذين من قبلكم فضيعوها ألا ومن صلاها ضعف له أجره مرتين ألا ولا صلاة بعدها حتى تروا الشاهد قلت لابن لهيعة ما الشاهد قال الكوكب الأعراب يسمون الكوكب شاهد الليل
