I asked Ali bin Husayn, and he reported to me from Abu Rafi, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that when Hasan bin Ali was born, his mother Fatimah wanted to perform the aqiqah for him by sacrificing two rams. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not perform the aqiqah for him, but rather shave the hair of his head and give its weight in silver as charity in the path of Allah." Then Husayn was born after that, and she did the same.
حدثنا زكريا بن عدي قال أخبرني عبيد الله يعني ابن عمرو
فسألت علي بن الحسين فحدثني عن أبي رافع مولى رسول الله ﷺ أن الحسن بن علي لما ولد أرادت أمه فاطمة أن تعق عنه بكبشين فقال لا تعقي عنه ولكن احلقي شعر رأسه ثم تصدقي بوزنه من الورق في سبيل الله ثم ولد حسين بعد ذلك فصنعت مثل ذلك
