Umm Bajid reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit us among the tribe of Amr bin Awf, so I would prepare a little sawiq for him in a small bowl of mine, and when he came, I would give it to him to drink.She said, I asked, "Messenger of Allah, a beggar comes to me, and I feel embarrassed to give him only the little I have."He replied, "Place something in the poor man's hand, even if it be a burnt hoof."

حدثنا عفان قال حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن محمد بن إسحاق عن سعيد بن أبي سعيد المقبري عن عبد الرحمن بن بجيد

عن جدته أم بجيد أنها قالت

كان رسول الله ﷺ يأتينا في بني عمرو بن عوف فأتخذ له سويقة في قعبة لي فإذا جاء سقيتها إياه قالت قلت يا رسول الله إنه يأتيني السائل فأتزهد له بعض ما عندي فقال ضعي في يد المسكين ولو ظلفا محرقا
