His grandmother, the wife of Bujayd, who used to say that she was among those who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, told him that she once said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "By Allah, a poor man stands at my door until I feel ashamed, yet I find nothing in my house to place in his hand."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Put something in his hand, even if it is only a burnt hoof."
حدثنا حجاج وأبو كامل قالا حدثنا ليث يعني ابن سعد قال حدثني سعيد يعني المقبري عن عبد الرحمن بن بجيد أخي بني حارثة أنه حدثته جدته وهي امرأة بجيد وكانت تزعم ممن بايع رسول الله ﷺ أنها قالت لرسول الله ﷺ فذكر معناه
