Maymuna bint Kardam reported,

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Mecca while he was on his she-camel, and I was with my father. In the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was a whip like the whip of a scribe. I heard the bedouins and the people saying, "The little whip, the little whip!"My father drew near to him and took hold of his foot, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ acknowledged him. She said, "Among the things I have not forgotten is the length of his index toe over the rest of his toes."She said, My father said to him, "I was present at the army of Uthran." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recognized that army.Tariq bin Murraqqi had said, "Who will give me a spear in exchange for its reward?"I asked, "And what is its reward?"He said, "I will marry him to the first daughter born to me."So I gave him my spear, then I left him alone until a daughter was born to him and reached marriageable age. I came to him and said, "Prepare my wife for me."He said, "By Allah, I will not prepare her for you until you provide a new dowry other than that."So I swore that I would not do so.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "And what age of woman is she now?"He said, "She has already seen grey hairs."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Leave her alone. There is no good in her for you."That alarmed me, and I looked at him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You will not sin, and your companion will not sin."She said, My father said to him at that same place, "I have vowed to slaughter a number of sheep." He said, I do not know him to have said anything but, "Fifty sheep at the top of Bawana."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Is there any of these idols upon it?"He said, "No."He said, "Then fulfill for Allah what you have vowed to Him."She said, So my father gathered them and began slaughtering them. One sheep escaped from him, and he chased it, saying, "O Allah, let me fulfill my vow." Until he caught it and slaughtered it.

حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال أخبرنا عبد الله بن يزيد بن مقسم قال حدثتني عمتي سارة بنت مقسم

عن ميمونة بنت كردم قالت

رأيت رسول الله ﷺ بمكة وهو على ناقته وأنا مع أبي وبيد رسول الله ﷺ درة كدرة الكتاب فسمعت الأعراب والناس يقولون الطبطبية فدنا منه أبي فأخذ بقدمه فأقر له رسول الله ﷺ قالت فما نسيت فيما نسيت طول أصبع قدمه السبابة على سائر أصابعه قالت فقال له أبي إني شهدت جيش عثران قالت فعرف رسول الله ﷺ ذلك الجيش فقال طارق بن المرقع من يعطيني رمحا بثوابه قال فقلت وما ثوابه قال أزوجه أول بنت تكون لي قال فأعطيته رمحي ثم تركته حتى ولدت له ابنة وبلغت فأتيته فقلت له جهز لي أهلي فقال لا والله لا أجهزها حتى تحدث صداقا غير ذلك فحلفت أن لا أفعل فقال رسول الله ﷺ وبقدر أي النساء هي قال قد رأت القتير قال فقال لي رسول الله ﷺ دعها عنك لا خير لك فيها قال فراعني ذلك ونظرت له فقال رسول الله ﷺ لا تأثم ولا يأثم صاحبك قالت فقال له أبي في ذلك المقام إني نذرت أن أذبح عددا من الغنم قال لا أعلمه إلا قال خمسين شاة على رأس بوانة فقال رسول الله ﷺ هل عليها من هذه الأوثان شيء قال لا قال فأوف لله بما نذرت له قالت فجمعها أبي فجعل يذبحها وانفلتت منه شاة فطلبها وهو يقول اللهم أوف عني بنذري حتى أخذها فذبحها
