The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought some clothing, among which was a small black cloak. He asked, "Who do you think is most deserving of this?" The people remained silent.He said, "Bring me Umm Khalid."She was brought to him, and he dressed her in it. Then he said to her twice, "Wear it out and let it become worn."He kept looking at a marking on the cloak that was red or yellow and saying, "Sanah, sanah, Umm Khalid." Sanah in the language of the Abyssinians means "beautiful."
حدثنا أبو النضر قال حدثنا إسحاق بن سعيد عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ أتي بكسوة فيها خميصة صغيرة فقال من ترون أحق بهذه فسكت القوم فقال ائتوني بأم خالد فأتي بها فألبسها إياها ثم قال لها مرتين أبلي وأخلقي وجعل ينظر إلى علم في الخميصة أحمر أو أصفر ويقول سناه سناه يا أم خالد وسناه في كلام الحبش الحسن
Its isnad is sahih. Ishaq bin Saeed is the son of Amr bin As, and he is trustworthy, his hadith appearing in the Sahihayn. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 6/183, no. 3071, in the Book of Jihad, and Abu Dawud 4/42, no. 4024, in the Book of Clothing, and Humaydi 1/161, no. 337. Hakim graded it sahih, 2/63, with similar wording, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
