Muawiya bin Abu Sufyan led us in the afternoon prayer, then sent a man to Maymunah, and afterward sent another man after him.She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was preparing a military expedition but had no mounts available. Then mounts came to him from the charity, and he began distributing them among the men. They kept him occupied until the afternoon prayer was nearly upon him. He used to pray two units before the afternoon prayer, or as much as Allah willed. So he prayed the afternoon prayer first, then returned and prayed what he used to pray before it. Whenever he performed a prayer or did some act, he liked to keep up with it regularly."
حدثنا عبد الصمد قال حدثني أبي قال حدثنا حنظلة قال حدثنا
صلى بنا معاوية بن أبي سفيان صلاة العصر فأرسل إلى ميمونة ثم أتبعه رجلا آخر فقالت إن رسول الله ﷺ كان يجهز بعثا ولم يكن عنده ظهر فجاءه ظهر من الصدقة فجعل يقسمه بينهم فحبسوه حتى أرهق العصر وكان يصلي قبل العصر ركعتين أو ما شاء الله فصلى العصر ثم رجع فصلى ما كان يصلي قبلها وكان إذا صلى صلاة أو فعل شيئا يحب أن يداوم عليه
