A woman reported that while she was sitting with Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, Ibn Abbas came in to see her. Maymunah asked him, "Why is your hair so unkempt?"He replied, "Umm Ammar, the woman who combs my hair, is menstruating."Maymunah said, "My dear son, what does menstruation have to do with the hand? The Prophet ﷺ used to come in to one of us while she was reclining and menstruating, knowing full well that she was menstruating, and he would lean against her and recite the Quran while leaning against her. Or he would come in to her while she was sitting and menstruating, and he would rest in her lap and recite the Quran there. And she would get up while menstruating and spread out the prayer mat for him at his place of prayer."Ibn Bakr's version says, "his prayer mat, and he would pray on it in my house.""My dear son, what does menstruation have to do with the hand?"
