Khalid bin Walid reported that he entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon Maymuna bint Harith while she was menstruating. Some grilled lizard meat was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, which had been brought by Umm Hufayd, the daughter of Harith, from Najd. She was married to a man from Banu Jafar.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not eat anything until he knew what it was. One of the women said, "Will you not tell the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what he is about to eat?" So they told him it was lizard meat, and he left it.Khalid said, "I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'Is it forbidden?'"He replied, "No, but it is a food not found among my people, so I find myself averse to it."Khalid said, "I drew it toward me and ate it while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ watched."He said, and al-Asam narrated it from Maymuna, who raised him, meaning this hadith. I think al-Asam is Yazid bin Asam.
حدثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم بن سعد قال حدثني أبي عن صالح بن كيسان وحدث ابن شهاب عن أبي أمامة بن سهل
أنه أخبره أن خالد بن الوليد دخل مع رسول الله ﷺ على ميمونة بنت الحارث وهي حائض فقدم إلى رسول الله ﷺ لحم ضب جاءت به أم حفيد ابنة الحارث من نجد وكانت تحت رجل من بني جعفر وكان رسول الله ﷺ لا يأكل شيئا حتى يعلم ما هو فقال بعض النسوة ألا تخبرين رسول الله ﷺ ما يأكل فأخبرته أنه لحم ضب فتركه قال خالد فسألت رسول الله ﷺ أحرام هو قال لا ولكنه طعام ليس في قومي فأجدني أعافه قال خالد فاجتررته إلي فأكلته ورسول الله ﷺ ينظر قال وحدثه الأصم عن ميمونة وكان في حجرها يعني بهذا الحديث وأظن أن الأصم يزيد بن الأصم
