I was with Maymunah when Ibn Abbas came to her. She said, "My son, why is your hair so disheveled?"He replied, "Umm Ammar, the one who combs my hair, is menstruating."She said, "My son, what does menstruation have to do with the hand? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to come in to one of us while she was menstruating, place his head in her lap, and recite the Quran while she was menstruating. Then one of us would take his prayer mat and lay it out in the mosque while she was menstruating. My son, what does menstruation have to do with the hand?"

كنت عند ميمونة فأتاها ابن عباس فقالت يا بني ما لك شعثا رأسك قال أم عمار مرجلتي حائض قالت أي بني وأين الحيضة من اليد كان رسول الله ﷺ يدخل على إحدانا وهي حائض فيضع رأسه في حجرها فيقرأ القرآن وهي حائض ثم تقوم إحدانا بخمرته فتضعها في المسجد وهي حائض أي بني وأين الحيضة من اليد
