Abdul-Rahman bin Awf came in to visit Umm Salama and said, "Mother of the Believers, I fear that I may be ruined. I am among the wealthiest of Quraysh. I have just sold a piece of land of mine for forty thousand Dinars."She replied, "Spend, my son, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Among my companions are those who will not see me again after I part from them.'"So I went to Umar and informed him of this. He came to her and asked, "By Allah, am I one of them?"She answered, "By Allah, no. And I will not clear anyone after you."

دخل عبد الرحمن بن عوف على أم سلمة فقال يا أم المؤمنين إني أخشى أن أكون قد هلكت إني من أكثر قريش مالا بعت أرضا لي بأربعين ألف دينار فقالت أنفق يا بني فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن من أصحابي من لا يراني بعد أن أفارقه فأتيت عمر فأخبرته فأتاها فقال بالله أنا منهم قالت اللهم لا ولن أبرئ أحدا بعدك
