Abu Hurairah and Ibn Abbas differed concerning a woman whose husband had died and who then gave birth.Abu Hurairah said, "She may marry."Ibn Abbas said, "She must observe the longer of the two waiting periods."So they sent word to Umm Salama, who said, "The husband of Subayah bint Harith died, and she gave birth fifteen nights after his death. Two men then proposed to her, and she inclined toward one of them. When they feared she would commit herself to one of them, they said, 'You are not yet permitted to marry.' So she went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said, 'You are permitted to marry, so marry whomever you wish.'"

اختلف أبو هريرة وابن عباس في المتوفى عنها زوجها إذا وضعت حملها فقال أبو هريرة تزوج وقال ابن عباس أبعد الأجلين قال فبعثوا إلى أم سلمة فقالت توفي زوج سبيعة بنت الحارث فولدت بعد وفاته بخمس عشرة ليلة فخطبها رجلان قال فحطت بنفسها إلى أحدهما فلما خشوا أن تفتات بنفسها إلى أحدهما قالوا إنك لم تحلي فانطلقت إلى رسول الله ﷺ قال قد حللت فانكحي من شئت
