Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Umm Salama and said, "Umm Muiminin, tell us about the private conduct of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She replied, "His private conduct and his public conduct were the same."Then she regretted what she had said and thought to herself, "I have disclosed the private affairs of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She said, "When he came in, I told him what had happened, and he said, 'You did well.'"
حدثنا محمد بن عبيد قال حدثنا الأعمش عن عمرو بن مرة
دخل ناس من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ على أم سلمة فقالوا يا أم المؤمنين حدثينا عن سر رسول الله ﷺ قالت كان سره وعلانيته سواء ثم ندمت فقلت أفشيت سر رسول الله ﷺ قالت فلما دخل أخبرته فقال أحسنت
Its isnad is sahih. Yahya bin Jazzar is al-Urani, and he is trustworthy, his hadith being found in Muslim. The hadith was narrated by Tabarani in al-Kabir, 23/323, no. 740, and Haythami said, 8/284, "The men of both are the men of the Sahih."
