Umm Salama bint Abu Umaya reported,

She informed him that when she came to Medina, she told the people there that she was the daughter of Abu Umaya bin Mughira, but they did not believe her, saying, "How false are the claims of strangers!" until some of them set out for the Hajj. They asked her, "What would you like to write to your family?" So she wrote a letter with them, and when they returned to Medina, they confirmed her account, and her honor among them increased.She said, "When I gave birth to Zaynab, the Prophet ﷺ came and proposed to me. I said, 'Someone like me is not to be married. As for me, I bear no more children, I am jealous, and I have dependents.'He said, 'I am older than you. As for jealousy, Allah will remove it. As for the dependents, they are the responsibility of Allah and His Messenger.'"So he married her, and he would come to her and ask, "Where is Zunab?" until one day Ammar bin Yasir came and snatched the child away, saying, "This one is keeping the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from us." She had been nursing her.Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and asked, "Where is Zunab?"Qariba bint Abu Umaya, who happened to be with her, replied, "Ammar bin Yasir took her."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I will come to you tonight."She said, "So I got up and took out some grains of barley that were in a jar, and I took out some fat and made him a dish of asida."The Prophet ﷺ spent the night, and in the morning he said, "You have a place of honor with your husband. If you wish, I will spend seven nights with you, but if I spend seven with you, I will spend seven with each of my other wives."

أخبرته أنها لما قدمت المدينة أخبرتهم أنها ابنة أبي أمية بن المغيرة فكذبوها ويقولون ما أكذب الغرائب حتى أنشأ ناس منهم إلى الحج فقالوا ما تكتبين إلى أهلك فكتبت معهم فرجعوا إلى المدينة يصدقونها فازدادت عليهم كرامة قالت فلما وضعت زينب جاءني النبي ﷺ فخطبني فقلت ما مثلي نكح أما أنا فلا ولد في وأنا غيور وذات عيال فقال أنا أكبر منك وأما الغيرة فيذهبها الله عز وجل وأما العيال فإلى الله ورسوله فتزوجها فجعل يأتيها فيقول أين زناب حتى جاء عمار بن ياسر يوما فاختلجها وقال هذه تمنع رسول الله ﷺ وكانت ترضعها فجاء رسول الله ﷺ فقال أين زناب فقالت قريبة ابنة أبي أمية ووافقها عندها أخذها عمار بن ياسر فقال رسول الله ﷺ إني آتيكم الليلة قالت فقمت فأخرجت حبات من شعير كانت في جر وأخرجت شحما فعصدته له قالت فبات النبي ﷺ ثم أصبح فقال حين أصبح إن لك على أهلك كرامة فإن شئت سبعت لك فإن أسبع لك أسبع لنسائي
