The Messenger of Allah ﷺ proposed marriage to Umm Salama. She said, "Messenger of Allah, none of my guardians is present."He replied, "None of your guardians, present or absent, would object to this match."So she said, "Umar, give your father in marriage to the Prophet ﷺ." And the Prophet ﷺ married her.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "I will not give you less than what I gave your sisters, two millstones, a water jar, and a leather cushion stuffed with palm fiber."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would come to consummate the marriage with her, but whenever she saw him, she would pick up her daughter Zaynab and place her in her lap, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would leave.Ammar bin Yasir, who was her brother through breastfeeding, came to know of this. He came to her and said, "Where is this wretched, ugly little thing with whom you have been troubling the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He took the girl and carried her away.Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and entered her room. He began casting his gaze around the house and asked, "What happened to Zunab?"She replied, "Ammar came and took her away."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ consummated the marriage with her and said to her, "If you wish, I will spend seven nights with you, but if I spend seven with you, I will spend seven with each of my other wives."
حدثنا يزيد قال حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن ثابت البناني قال حدثني ابن عمر بن أبي سلمة عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ خطب أم سلمة فقالت يا رسول الله إنه ليس أحد من أوليائي تعني شاهدا فقال إنه ليس أحد من أوليائك شاهد ولا غائب يكره ذلك فقالت يا عمر زوج النبي ﷺ فتزوجها النبي ﷺ فقال لها رسول الله ﷺ أما إني لا أنقصك مما أعطيت أخواتك رحيين وجرة ومرفقة من أدم حشوها ليف فكان رسول الله ﷺ يأتيها ليدخل بها فإذا رأته أخذت زينب ابنتها فجعلتها في حجرها فينصرف رسول الله ﷺ فعلم ذلك عمار بن ياسر وكان أخاها من الرضاعة فأتاها وقال أين هذه المشقوحة المقبوحة التي قد آذيت بها رسول الله ﷺ فأخذها فذهب بها فجاء رسول الله ﷺ فدخل عليها فجعل يضرب ببصره في نواحي البيت فقال ما فعلت زناب فقالت جاء عمار فأخذها فذهب بها فدخل بها رسول الله ﷺ وقال لها إن شئت سبعت لك سبعت وإن سبعت لك سبعت لنسائي
